It is a heavy machine used in cutting, bending, drawing or spinning metals with special molds by applying impact or pressure. It is powered by electric motor. It is generally available in two types: 'eccentric press' and 'hydraulic press'. The press has two jaws. One of them, the lower one, is fixed while the other, the upper one is movable. The mold is designed in two pieces (male and female) and each is attached to one of the jaws. The part to be processed is placed on the lower mold. When the upper jaw descended, the part takes the required shape by being pressed between the mold’s pieces. The power of a press is expressed in tons. Various presses are used in the industry varying between 1 tons and 5.000 tons. The presses used in bending sheets are called as “bending presses”.
A hydraulic press is a type of press run by the oil pumps taking place in the machine that send compressed oil to the system. In other words, they work with the help of oil pressure. In such presses, the pace and pressure of the pistons are controlled with the oil pressure sent to the system to put the material into the desired shape.
Hydraulic presses allow easier shaping, molding and forming processes compared with the mechanical presses. These presses can ensure pressure force in very high tons (more than 50 tons).
An eccentric press is a machine run by electric motor having an eccentric shaft. The ram to be used in pressing is attached to this shaft. The work pieces are put into any desired shapes by this ram ascending and descending. They are deemed the industry’s heavy labors.
They have been replaced by hydraulic presses gradually. They cause loss in power because of their mechanical assembly. Their pace is constant and cannot be adjusted.
It is run by kinetic power of a big circular metal accelerated by an electric motor. The press arm attached to the eccentric shaft is attached to this circular metal by a contra. When the shaft is released from the contra with the help of a pedal, it grabs the eccentric shaft. Then, it completes a full tour and hits the contra and stops. After the press arm starts to move, it cannot be stopped before it completes a full tour. Thus, it is dangerous.
Our company has press machines having various diameters and tons. They are used in smooth forming, cutting, bending, spinning and many processes according to our customers’ demands.
